                              WHY WEAR A UNIFORM?
                         (Навіщо  носити шкільну форму?)

It’s there for good reasons. First of all, I like uniforms because everyone has the same. Then, it stops us worrying about what to wear each day. Besides, when we go on a school trip, we all look the same and so can’t get lost. Finally, it develops school spirit. 

Вона існує з поважних причин. По-перше, мені подобаються форми, тому що кожен має те ж саме. Потім, це не дає нам турбуватися про те, що носити кожен день. До того ж, коли ми їдемо у шкільну поїздку, ми всі виглядаємо однаково і не можемо загубитися. Нарешті, вона розвиває дух школи.


                                            What’s the point of school uniform? As a parent, I don’t have to

shop for new expensive clothes for my children. It saves my family time and money, and I know for sure my daughters won’t show off to other kids. Everyone is equal: all children dress the same, whether rich or poor. Interestingly, when there is no debate about what a child is allowed to wear to school, then that makes mornings easier for parents and for kids. 
Який сенс шкільної форми? Як мамі, мені не потрібно купувати новий дорогий одяг для своїх дітей. Це економить мій сімейний час і гроші, і я точно знаю, що мої доньки не виділяються від інших дітей. Всі рівні: всі діти одягаються однаково, будь то багаті або бідні. Цікаво, що коли немає жодних суперечок про те, що дитині дозволено носити в школі, то це полегшує ранки батькам і дітям. 

There are several reasons for it. A school uniform is an important part of being a school student. Dressing alike helps schoolchildren focus on schoolwork and understand what really counts is what kind of people they are. Besides, wearing a school uniform gives a sense of pride and discipline. All in all, it creates a more serious atmosphere in the classroom.

Для цього є кілька причин. Шкільна форма є важливою частиною школяра. Одягання однаково допомагає школярам зосередитися на шкільній роботі і зрозуміти, що насправді має значення, якими людьми вони є. Крім того, носіння шкільної форми дає відчуття гордості та дисципліни. Загалом, це створює більш серйозну атмосферу в класі. 

Ex. 10. True or False? (Правильно чи неправильно?)

1. Masha doesn’t like to wear a school uniform. 
    - False -  Masha likes to wear a school uniform.

2. Masha’s school uniform helps her mum economise on time and money. - True

3. Masha’s teacher says schoolchildren behave better if they wear a school uniform. - True

4. The teacher thinks that wearing a school uniform doesn’t help school kids learn better. 
   -- False - The teacher thinks that wearing a school uniform helps school kids learn              better. Dressing alike helps schoolchildren focus on schoolwork and understand what          really counts is what kind of people they are.

5. Masha understands that it is safe to wear a school uniform both at school and outside         school. - True

It is important to wear a school uniform for good reasons. When we go on a school trip, we all look the same and so can’t get lost. We won’t show off to other kids. Dressing alike helps us focus on schoolwork and understand what really counts is what kind of people we are. Above all, it develops school spirit.

Personally, I like to wear a school uniform.
