Victory Day
Oksana: Look around, Andrew, our town has a holiday! Look, today there are national flags, flowers and balloons everywhere.
Andrew: Small wonder. Today we are celebrating Victory Day.
Oksana: Look, veterans are going to the Monument of Glory. Let’s join them.
Andrew: I have got flowers. We can put them near the Eternal Flame.
Oksana: Good idea. And I want to present veterans with flowers I have bought this morning. They are our heroes, brave and nice people.
Andrew: Agreed. I like this holiday tradition. In my family we honour veterans.
Oksana: And what are you going to do in the evening? There is a big holiday concert in the centre of the town.
Andrew: And there is a holiday salute, too. We can see it together.
День Перемоги
Оксана: Подивися навколо, Андрій, у нашому місті свято! Подивися, сьогодні скрізь національні прапори, квіти і повітряні кульки.
Андрій: Не дивно. Сьогодні ми святкуємо День Перемоги.
Оксана: Подивись, ветерани йдуть до пам'ятника Слави. Давай приєднаємося до них.
Андрій: У мене є квіти. Ми можемо покласти їх біля Вічного вогню.
Оксана: Хороша ідея. І я хочу подарувати ветеранам квіти, які я купила сьогодні вранці. Вони наші герої, сміливі і хороші люди.
Андрій: Згоден. Мені подобається ця святкова традиція. У моїй родині ми шануємо ветеранів.
Оксана: А що ти збираєшся робити ввечері? У центрі міста є великий святковий концерт.
Андрій: І святковий салют теж. Ми можемо подивитися його разом.

On your own: Take a picture of any spring holiday and write 3–5 sentences about it. (Самостійно: візьміть фотографію будь-якого весняного свята і напишіть 3-5 речень про нього).
E x a m p l e: This is the Day of Humour, or April Fools’ Day. People laugh and make jokes. They put on masks and funny clothes. They have fun.
Це День гумору, або День дурня. Люди сміються і жартують. Вони одягають маски і кумедний одяг. Вони весело проводять час (розважаються).
