Продовжуємо розмову про  святкування Дня Перемоги  у нашій країні.

                            A Great Family Tradition 

My name is Petro Denisenko. I’m eight and I live in a small village with my parents. My granddad and great-granddad live in Kyiv. It has become a good family tradition to be together on Victory Day. So my dad, mum and I come to Kyiv early in the morning. We don’t want to be late for the parade. On this day my great-granddad puts on all his medals and we go to the monument of Glory. There my great-granddad meets his old friends. They are also veterans. As a rule, they talk about the war and I like to listen to them. When we are standing near the Eternal Flame my great-granddad cries. I think he remembers his friends who died for their country. I’m happy to be with him at that moment. He is a hero and I’m proud of him.

                           Велика сімейна Традиція

Мене звати Петро Денисенко. Мені вісім, і я живу в невеликому селі з батьками. Мої дідусь і прадід живуть у Київі. Стало доброю сімейною традицією бути разом на День Перемоги. Таким чином, мої тато, мама і я приїжджаємо до Київа рано вранці. Ми не хочемо запізнитися на парад. В цей день мій прадід одягає всі свої медалі, і ми йдемо до монумента Слави. Там мій прадід зустрічає своїх старих друзів. Вони теж ветерани. Як правило, вони говорять про війну, і мені подобається слухати їх. Коли ми стоїмо біля Вічного вогню, мій прадід плаче. Я думаю, що він пригадує своїх друзів, які померли за свою країну. Я щасливий бути з ним у цей момент. Він герой, і я пишаюся ним.

Ex. 9. Talk with friends about Ukrainian spring holidays. 

          (Поговоріть з друзями про українські весняні свята.)

There are some spring holidays in Ukraine: Easter, Mother’s Day, All Fool’s Day and others. One of them is Victory Day. On this day veterans put on all their medals and go to the monument of Glory. People present them with flowers. Children can see a parade and а holiday salute on Victory Day. As a rule, veterans talk about the war. I like to listen to them.
