Learn to talk about New Year and Christmas 

    (Вчимося говорити про Новий рік і Різдво)

Настала черга пригадати улюблені зимові свята, які ми нещодавно відсвяткували, і познайомитися з традиціями Нового року і Різдва в інших країнах.

Word Box reindeer (олень), candle (свічка), church (церква), cards (листівки), rooster (півень)

Phrase Box to take place (відбуватися, проходити), Christmas card (Різдвяна листівка), Christmas wreath (Різдвяний вінок), to take one’s eyes off something (відводити очі від чогось)

Communication Box For luck! (На щастя!) The world we live in! (Світ, в якому ми живемо!) Same to you. (Те ж саме для вас (тобі).) Happy New Year! (Щасливого Нового року!) Merry Christmas! (Щасливого Різдва!) It depends. (Це залежить.)

Ex. 1. Look and say about New Year/Christmas symbols 

         (Подивися і скажи про символи Нового року / Різдва)

        There is always a Christmas tree at Christmas.

        There is always Santa Claus at Christmas.

        There is always a reindeer at Christmas.

        There are always  Christmas presents at Christmas.

Ex.  2. Listen and repeat. Say how you are getting ready for the New Year celebration. (Послухай і повтори. Скажи, як ви готуєтеся до святкування Нового року.)

– Listen, Bill, the bells are ringing. New Year is coming.

– So it is. We are getting ready for its celebration: decorating rooms, learning new carols and what not.

- Слухай, Білл, дзвонять дзвони. Наближається Новий рік.

- Так воно і є. Ми готуємося до його святкування: прикрашаємо кімнати, вивчаємо нові колядки, та інше.

Ex. 3. Look, match and say where you can see these things at Christmas.

        (Подивися, поєднай і скажи, де ти можеш бачити ці речі на Різдво.)

        We can see Christmas wreaths on some doors of the houses.

        We can see Christmas reindeer on some Christmas cards.

        We can see Christmas cards on my table.

        We can see Christmas candles on some Christmas pies.

        We can see Christmas pies on the tables.

Ex. 4. Think and say about getting ready for Christmas: 

          (Подумай і скажи про те, як готуватися до Різдва)

• how you decorate your house and Christmas tree; 

   (як ви прикрашаєте свій будинок і ялинку;)

• what Christmas traditions your family keeps;

    (які різдвяні традиції зберігає ваша родина;)

• what your favourite Christmas dish is.

     (яке улюблене різдвяне блюдо.)

E x a m p l e: All my family likes to get ready for Christmas. We decorate our house with paper coloured flags and balloons.

Вся моя сім'я любить готуватися до Різдва. Ми прикрашаємо наш будинок кольоровими прапорами і повітряними кулями.
